Biography

John Emery was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Emery's early acting career consisted of roles in various films, such as "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" (1941) with Robert Montgomery, the adventurous drama "The Corsican Brothers" (1941) with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and "George Washington Slept Here" (1942). He also appeared in the comedic drama "Two Yanks in Trinidad" (1942) with Pat O'Brien, "Ship Ahoy" (1942) with Eleanor Powell and "Eyes in the Night" (1942). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties and the fifties, appearing in the adventure "The Spanish Main" (1945) with Paul Henreid, the Eleanor Parker dramatic adaptation "The Voice of the Turtle" (1948) and the mystery "The Woman in White" (1948) with Eleanor Parker. He also appeared in "Joan of Arc" (1950) with Ingrid Bergman. In the latter half of his career, he continued to act in the Jeff Morrow sci-fi flick "Kronos" (1957), the Gary Cooper dramatic adaptation "Ten North Frederick" (1958) and the James Franciscus dramatic adaptation "Youngblood Hawke" (1964). Emery was most recently credited in the James Healey suspenseful mystery "Strangers" (1991). Emery was married to Tallulah Bankhead. Emery passed away in November 1964 at the age of 59.
